The neighborhood is located approximately 5.7 miles from Downtown Austin, straddling Interstate 35, and is bounded by Middle Fiskville Road and Twincrest to the west, U.S. 290 to the south, Anderson Lane to the north, and Cameron Road to the east.

Community Vision and Development

In 2017, the Austin City Council directed staff to collaborate with the St. Johns community to create a new community vision, which was officially adopted in 2020. This vision aims to revitalize the neighborhood with a focus on affordable housing, community retail, and recreational spaces. A significant development project, in collaboration with Greystar, is planned to transform 19 acres of city-owned land into a mixed-use, mixed-income community with over 500 units of housing, half of which will be affordable housing based on individual or family income.
