Jollyville Neighborhood

Jollyville is a neighborhood located in the northern part of Austin, Texas, straddling the border of Williamson and Travis counties. This North Austin neighborhood offers a quiet suburban feel with shady, tree-lined streets and a mix of single-family homes and apartments. History

The area was first settled by Henry Rhodes in 1841 after he obtained a land grant from the Republic of Texas. The name "Jollyville" comes from John G. Jolly, who purchased 160 acres in 1866 and operated a blacksmith shop and store. The neighborhood remained lightly settled for decades, with only 20 families living there in 1960. The growth of nearby Austin led to its development as a suburban community.

Geography

Jollyville is situated below TX-45 and east of US-183, split across both sides of Parmer Lane. The community covers approximately 5.9 square miles, making it a sizable and well-defined area within North Austin.
