Jollyville is a neighborhood located in the northern part of Austin, Texas, straddling the border of Williamson and Travis counties. History
The area was first settled by Henry Rhodes in 1841 after he obtained a land grant from the Republic of Texas. The name "Jollyville" comes from John G. Jolly, who purchased 160 acres in 1866 and operated a blacksmith shop and store. The neighborhood remained lightly settled for decades, with only 20 families living there in 1960. The growth of nearby Austin led to its development as a suburban community.
Geography
Jollyville is situated below TX-45 and east of US-183, split across both sides of Parmer Lane. The community covers approximately 5.9 square miles, making it a sizable and well-defined area within North Austin.
